Hi all i have greate problem.
I was installed RHEL 5.4 , postfix and dovecot mail server few days ago. My mail server is succesfull installed and then i test sent email to foreign hosts. But today i check /var/log/maillog then bring to me problem. My maillog file is 1.6GB size.
I see only two files maillog and maillog.1 in /var/log.
grepping for maillog in logrotate.d directory gives three files that have a mention of maillog.
syslog
/var/log/messages /var/log/secure /var/log/maillog /var/log/spooler /var/log/boot.log /var/log/cron {
#/var/log/messages /var/log/secure /var/log/spooler /var/log/boot.log /var/log/cron {
daily
sharedscripts
postrotate
I am unable to receive emails on an Ubuntu 11.04 server running postfix with the Plesk control panel. I can't see the mails even on webmail. I am able to send emails and am not getting any error messages on the email client when I try to receive.
I think you should talk with your Service Provider with the maillog.Quote:relay=outgoing.verizon.net[206.46.232.12]:587, delay=0.7, delays=0.09/0.03/... [by sarmed]
Hi,I have a problem with postfix and lda dovecot: wen I send a email on address configurated on my test server in /var/log/maillog i read this:Oct 12... [by thefantaman]
I am noticing the following in my maillog.
Lots of these:
Sep 10 10:29:56 westc01-01-01 postfix/smtpd[26788]: connect from unknown[85.111.7.182]
And these:
Sep 10 10:34:58 westc01-01-01 postfix/smtpd[26768]: disconnect from unknown[85.111.7.182]
Sep 10 10:34:58 westc01-01-01 postfix/smtpd[26758]: timeout after AUTH from unknown[85.111.7.182]
And these:
Sep 10 10:29:56 westc01-01-01 postfix
like in the title, I would like to know which file I've to modify
to setup the permission on the maillog file as 0644.
I know that is a bad practice but I need it otherwise my script fail everytime.
I am using redhat 5.6 Cheers
this is first time I set up a server from scratch and I consider myself a fast and good learner for new stuff, so I did my best to setup postfix with dovecot in CENTOS 6, so I'm getting relay access denied on my maillog:
warning: 187.167.4.199: hostname 187-167-4-199.static.axtel.net verification failed: Name or service not known

When I sent a mail from the command line, where should it end up?
