I recently was able to install and configure Ubuntu 11.10-amd64 on my new late 2011 8,3 MacBook Pro:
$ sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
MacBookPro8,3
$ uname -a
Linux work-macbook 3.0.0-14-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 21 20:28:43 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Just about everything is working, with the major exception of Bluetooth.
Despite the age of my machine I can´t seem to find much out there on installing Linux on a MacBookPro 1,1 or anything about the hardware and Fedora compatibility. Perhaps I´m just not looking in the right places.
At the advice of a friend of mine who particularly likes Fedora, I decided to try my luck with F17 on my ancient gen 1 Intel MacBook Pro.
Hello,
So I am new here, but not new to linux...
I recently upgraded to the latest FGLRX driver on my MacBook Pro and I noticed that Bluetooth was having some issues afterward. I tried reinstalling bluetooth and bluez, but it didn't seem to fix things. Before the FGLRX upgrade, it was working just fine.
I'm looking to install Linux on my Macbook Pro in a Dual Boot config. I've previously asked this question in a different fashion here: Dual Boot Fedora 16 with OS X rEFIt.
However, it didn't really get much attention and seems to have fallen of the radar.
I'm interested dual booting Fedora 17 64 bit on my MacBook Pro Mountain Lion laptop. I have it working thanks to various helpful web pages I've found in particular this one, but I still have a problem with high CPU temperatures that has so far eluded me.
In OS X on my MacBook runs quite cool when the system is idle. The fans are barely audible.
Potentially a silly question.
I have a panp7, and I could swear when I bought it, it had bluetooth...but my old, trusty USB headphones finally died, so I bought a fairly nice pair of bluetooth headphones, thinking I could use them with my laptop. But I went into settings>bluetooth, and it says No Bluetooth Adapters found.
Am I having a senior moment?
I would like some assistance, or even just advice on where to go, to resolve the following issue.
I installed Fedora 17 on a Thinkpad T43. The bluetooth adapter was recognised, and BlueMan, BlueDevil or the gnome bluetooth manager all seem to be able to turn it on and off, as well as detect other bluetooth devices and pair with them.
sdptool is able to list available bluetooth services.
I'm new to Linux. Been using Ubuntu and Mint primarily for last couple of months. Since Fedora is right behind Ubuntu at Distro-watch in popularity I was curious and downloaded the new Live CD.
