Electronic Arts and Valve have announced the release date for the highly anticipated gravity defying sequel Portal 2.  Return once again to the Aperture Science Labs to battle GLaDOS this coming April.

Finally, Valve has the pleasure of releasing the Portal game for all Linux operating systems, through the Steam platform. Valve officially released the Portal game back in 2007, along with Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2.

Valve’s upcoming release of Steam for Linux is the best news student and game developer Damien Levac has heard since he started using Linux three years ago.

I've long thought that one of the major adoption bottlenecks for Mac has been games, or more specifically, the lack of them. This is about to change as Valve plans to release a version of its Steam digital distribution service for Mac OS X platform next month.

As things continue to heat up on the open source gaming front, Valve is preparing for a  beta test of the Linux version of its popular Steam service, which Valve has promised to deliver by the end of this year. Many Linux gamers are watching this closely, especially after the popularity of Steam for the Mac.
