I am doing a migration of mailboxes from one Exchange 2007 server to another server(new hardware, different server name, both on the same domain).
What steps do I need to take to ensure that no users access the mailbox stores during the migration process?
Disable port 25?
Disable OWA?
I will be using the move-mailbox exchange console functionality.
I made a mistake deleting container CN=Servers from under CN=Configuration , CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=[YourExchangeOrganisationName], CN=Administrative Groups, CN=[LegacyAdministrativeGroupName], CN=Servers
I deleted this folder while following: http://www.techieshelp.com/cannot-email-mail-enabled-folders-after-excha...

I have a postfix mail server that should relay all outgoing mail to an Exchange 2010 server (the Exchange box is my smarthost). I have administrator access to the Exchange 2010 system, but I'm not very familiar with it.
I have Lync 2010 Standard deployed in my environment, along with an edge server. On my firewall I have NAT'd the public address(s) to the server. Right now I have all the ports opened for these addresses to work, but now I want to lock this down for security concerns. Is there a complete list of ports that Lync needs opened in order to work properly?
Is it possible to configure one Mailbox in Exchange 2010 to encrypt the outgoing mails with PGP?
I have the following configuration:
1) External/Public SMTP-Relay (of course relay only for our domains) where all external Mail is sent to and forwarded to the public IP onsite and is also used as a smarthost for outgoing mail.
I have what I think is a quick easy question. I'd like to apply a service pack to my exchange 2007 mailbox server. I don't have a CCR setup, so its a pretty standard configuration.
I have a Windows Server 2008R2 Active Directory and Exchange 2010 server (client access, hub transport and mailbox roles) in a primarily Linux server environment. A Linux server running BIND9 is master for all zones, including AD specific ones, with updates allowed from the Windows server (and from a separate Linux DHCP server).

Few days ago when I removed Online Account for Exchange and add another exchange 2010 evolution cannot open mailbox, with error "the reporter error was: Cannot connect to destination (domain.example.com)". I have a central office site and I would like to know if it is considered acceptable to install Exchange 2010 CAS/Edge-Transport roles on VPS(s) in external datacentre(s) with a VPN back to our HQ where our mailbox and hub servers are.
My main goal is to have mail queued should the main site go down due to a local ISP failure.
Would there be any issues with this design and anything to be aware o
