This version partially fixes the application search in the Unity application launcher and file browser - also known as Dash (the file search actually looks completely fixed). Also, Unity doesn't display all the files at once anymore - for this, a new toggle button was introduced for both the files and applications. I took this opportunity to record a video with Unity (along with the new AppMenu, also known as Global Menu) so WebUpd8 readers can see where Ubuntu Netbook (HowTos)

I'm trying to remove unity from a ubuntu desktop, and later install MATE.

Unity Launcher Toggle is an Ubuntu application indicator for toggling the Unity launcher mode (fixed or autohide). The programming language used is Python.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit and it was all fine until last week. Now, there are several problems that I'm encountering:

I cannot change my desktop background. Application lens is installed, but no applications are shown in the dash.

Following are the things I've tried:

Installing unity-place-applications and unity-place-files.

My friend has a really slow 2 yr old Toshiba netbook with 1GB of RAM. She is annoyed how slow Windows Starter runs on it so I suggested switching to Ubuntu. Since 12.10 is due in a few days, I'm not sure if we should wait before installing Ubuntu or if we should install it now in order to use Unity 2D.
