Nov 10, 2010, 10AM EST -- The first Alpha grade release of SimplyMEPIS 11.0 has been uploaded to the MEPIS master site. It is available for immediate download by MEPIS subscribers. The global ISO mirrors should make the files available to the general public within 24 hours.

SimplyMEPIS 11 moves up to Linux kernel 2.6.36.4 and the KDE 4.51 desktop, switches from OpenOffice.org to LibreOffice 3.3.2, and provides FireFox 4.0, which was recently recompiled to run much faster on Linux....

SimplyMEPIS 11.0 Beta 1 was released last week, but again is plagued by start problems for many people. All during this SimplyMEPIS 11 development cycle boot problems have stopped many users from testing. Unfortunately, and probably the root of problem, is that this occurs for only some of the users with little hardware in common.
