I am running Ubuntu 11.10 and have added the mactel ppa but I can't install sudo apt-get install xf86-input-multitouch
I have done this:

expecting this to work:

I can't find the multitouch driver anywhere!
Update
After using the first answer by Scott Stookey I get this: I guess I will
I've found something that affects multitouch in the galaxy tab 2 7.0. When I put two or more fingers on the screen in apps that needs multitouch(dead trigger, maps, chrome) and move them (this is hard to explain in words) the app will have 'jittery' movement and sometimes the multitouch will 'break'(pinch to zoom will stop midway).
I bought the WeTab recently and installed Ubuntu... For some multitouch gestures I had to install uTouch,
What other widgets/applications/tweaks are there to make Ubuntu feel more like a tablet OS?
(e.g. Hide mouse cursor, custom login screen, etc.)
Just list as many as you can find! Thank you very much!
I'm trying to enable some multitouch gestures to mirror what OS X is capable of doing, such as brushing three fingers across the trackpad to switch desktops, swiping two fingers to navigate back in nautilus or firefox etc. I'm trying to use touchegg, but I'm not sure if ubuntu sees my trackpad as a device with more than two finger support.
Hello!
I have some USB device (ActivBoard 587 Pro), which has multitouch support. So how can I learn about multitouch support by it's linux driver? Maybe I need run some programs like xinput or mtview?

It features the new 2.0 multi-touch engine which gives improvement on performance, customizability, and features. It is considered that the Linux Multi-Touch driver is now complete.
I have Ubuntu 11.10 installed in dual boot in a MacBook Pro 5.1.
I have installed the xserver-xorg-input-multitouch Multitouch X input driver, but I'm not sure I like it (it's too sensitive and moves too fast). So I want to get back to the default touchpad settings, but I can't.
If I remove remove the Multitouch X driver via synaptics, the touchpad won't work anymore.
People in the Apple Ubuntuforum are working hard on an alternative of the synaptics driver for multitouch touchpads, especially the one used in recent MacBooks. On the 15th of April v1.0-alpha2 was released. The following improvements were made:

i have started to try out some more from Ubuntu as dualboot on my laptop (Lenovo E530 with 640M). In Windows my touchpads gestures are working with three fingers to emulate back and forward (in a browser for example) which is awesome.
