Now that I'm back from vacation, it's time to actually start using my new $329 Lenovo G555 laptop. Yep, that's cheap for new hardware, and that's what prompted me to spend the money in the first place. My goal: Install and run the 64-bit version of Fedora 13 with Xfce.
Hello,
I would need your advice how to do a minimalistic instalation of Fedora with Xfce from CLI.
I downloaded minimum install iso (about 200MB) and started to install. During the instalation I checked "minimal", thats all.
Now I want to install Xorg and Xfce and GDM. But I want to install just necessary packages... without networkmanager and so on.
Problem:
On reboot Fedora 17 boots into Gnome4 desktop instead of Xfce
Fedora 17 Xfce Spin installed from bootable stick last september.
Hi. I've invested in using Fedora 17 XFCE as the system of choice for my parents, on my old laptop (that last ran Fedora at around 11/13, with Chrome running on it just fine) since my mum set fire to the other one (okay, that's a bit overdramatic, but there was smoke involved!). I've set it up just how I wanted it, but there's one small problem.
Chrome will not start.

I'm running a Dell XPS 15, with Fedora 16 XFCE, CentOS and Ubuntu 12.04 on it. Each on a separate partition, with two more for dedicated data storage.
I found that whenever I switch distros, the system clock mucks up. This is not only with Fedora, but with CentOS as well. I haven't noticed it yet with Ubuntu.

While the GNOME developers are busy at work on GNOME 3.0 and the KDE developers are busy working on KDE SC 4.6 and changes that may lead to KDE5, the Xfce desktop environment is still out there and being developed...

I have been using Fedora 10 for some time now with dual boot on my laptop and desktop. I have updated from Fedora 10 to 11 on my desktop over web. After the upgrade is successfully completed, the system does not boot, only a cursor appears. I tried to rescue it with my Fedora 10 CDs. The Linux system is not recognized.
