He there I posted earlier about a resolution issue on my laptop, while I'm tinkering with that, I've tossed 11.2 on a desktop I've got laying around.
I've got a different issue with this one, so I figured I'd start i new thread.
I have a setup that consists of a laptop that sits on a desk and then is connected to a 2nd AOC 22' monitor. My monitors were both working fine until one day I decided to bring my laptop over to a friends house for a day. I unplugged my laptop from my second monitor. Then I brung my laptop over to my friends house for one day.
So, my problem is that when I turn on my laptop and it starts booting Ubuntu, the monitor goes on and off a few times.
When it reaches the state where the system is loaded and should start working, the monitor on my laptop is black, nothing on it, not sure if it's turned on even.
After that, I plug in an external monitor, and my laptop monitor starts working.
Karmic 9.10
I'd like to disable my laptop monitor at startup (when an external monitor is connected), but make it available in X.By default, my boot looks like :* Grub2 displays only on my external monitor (at maximum resolution)* Kernel displays only on my external monitor (maximum resolution)* udev (I think) is started and turns on my laptop screen.
Hello,
I have an Toshiba Tecra R950 with F17 x86_64. At work I have it connected to an exteranl LCD monitor trhough the Display Port and I have NO problem with this configuration (dual monitor, closing the laptop and using only the external etc.).
On my work laptop, I'm looking for a way to choose which monitor setup is attached (before login, or in GRUB)
At work i have a Vertical 2208 Dell monitor, and at home i have U2711(horizontal) and sometimes I use the laptop "standalone".
I can set the monitors up no problem, but it's annoying to have to do it every time.
I would also like this configuration to include different wallpapers.

I have a msi A6000 laptop with a nvidia GeForce 8200m. I have installed the recommended proprietary driver for the graphics card.
The problem occurs when I try to use my Gateway FPD1810 monitor that I have connected to my laptop. I go into the X server, enable the monitor, click "Save to X configuration file", and get this message:
Hey,
I just installed Ubuntu for the first time on my desktop (12.04) and am having some issues with my monitors. As it's probably important, i'll mention that i'm running an Asus GeForge GTX 670.
First problem is with my first monitor. It is detecting it as "Laptop" and allowing only two possible resolutions - 800 x 600 & 1024 x 768.
