Are you using systemd? What command(s) are you using to shutdown and reboot? Did you edit the sudoers file when you installed sudo, or when you added your user? Did you read this section of the "sudo" topic in the wiki?

The "Community support in Arch" section mentions the wiki and IRC, but not the forum. Maybe the author had a bad experience here?

Are you in X, or in a console when you run this? "cannot open display" typically means you are trying to run a command in a console when that command only works in X.

"can't write to my memory sticks anymore" ? you used to be able to ? what changed ? As WonderWoofy said, we need more information. You could always try chown or chmod, but that's probably overkill until you tell us more ...

If lxde-logout is hard-coded to use consolekit then it has to either be fixed upstream or patched in someway. With the current systemd + polkit, you can simply use these commands:https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … management
