I am using Fedora 17 and am trying to access a remote machine (running Fedora 15) using its hostname which isn't working. The machine is right next to me on the same switch as my machine (so they are both on the same network with the same subnet and everything).
I am running a virtual machine in Windows 7, with the Fedora 18 beta running in it. I wanted to make a virtual machine web server so I can test my PHP and MySQL code on it.
Anybody have an idea of what software I'd need to make it all run and accessile via my LAN?
I'd need Apache, MySQL, PHP, FTP Access, and something to manage the MySQL database with.
I put off upgrading Fedora 14 on my primary machine while I fiddled with gnome 3 under Fedora 15 on another machine.
Finally, I had to bite the bullet so I upgraded to Fedora 17 on my primary machine and I am running raw gnome 3. I know how to use it, but i am not enitrely happy.
This took me a little while to figure out, so I've decided to post here for anyone interested in getting a single-node batch scheduling system running on Fedora 17 using torque from the fedora repository. These are really just a bunch of notes I took during the process. I have a dual quad-core machine and this just allows me to make use of idle cores.
I am having a whirlwind of trouble mounting a drive over nfs onto my FreeBSD machine from Fedora. I can mount from Fedora to Fedora using nfs (and its external IP) without fail, and I can mount from ubuntu to FreeBSD over NFS. I have set Fedora's SELinux to permissive with no noticeable change.
I will try to provide as much information as possible.
I've just converted a server from Fedora 14 to Ubuntu 12.04. "Converted" of course means a clean install.
I'm now trying to get all of the services back up and running and have some working pretty quickly, but I'm stymied on getting automount to mount work with a local directory.
