Having installed Kubuntu 12.04.01 from a live USB onto my desktop, I wanted to do the same on my laptop, an Acer Aspire 1362 Laptop, which has 256MB RAM.
Hello. My wife has just bought a Samsung NC110P, and after a few months of windows, she is very tired of it and wishes to install Ubuntu as a dual boot. However since the netbook lacks a DVD drive, I have created a USB installation stick. If I boot the computer with the stick inserted, it ignores it and boots windows.
Hey all,
I installed lubuntu on an old XP machine, but when I boot it up it doesn't give me the option to choose between the two operating systems, it just boots straight to lubuntu. I can mount the XP section of my hard drive from lubuntu and it looks like everything's there. Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks.
Am trying to boot from a usb stick.
I downloaded from Lubuntu ISO from the first link on the lubuntu website.
Burned a DVD with CD Burner XP in another PC , and at the target computer changed BIOS boot settings to boot from CD/DVD drive first.
Now at the target computer there was an old Ubuntu 8,04 Hardy Heron already installed.
The DVD does not get detected when i put newly burned DVD at DVD drive.
Where am I wrong?
I have tried twice to install Lubuntu 12.04 on my Asus 900 netbook. I did it using the lubuntu-12.04-alternate-i386.iso image, which I put on a USB stick using UNetbootin. I ran the install twice, once connected to internet and once not.
Finally lubuntu quantal quetzal .iso i386 image showed up in http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily-live/current/
but didn't do me any good.
Tried booting .iso from hard drive.
Works on precise, oneiric, maverick, lucid, .... Not this time. Squashfs unable to read block xxx
Tried mounting loop mode onto a 1G hard drive partition and booting.
So I created all of the partitions on my laptop and had it dual booting nicely. About two days ago, lubuntu wanted to load only on CLI and while I was trying to fix this I broke something and it did not want to let me log in graphically. So while trying to reinstall Lubuntu I accidentally told it to use the whole hard drive.
First post!! ):P
I am trying to install lubuntu onto an LG laptop model LS50e (quite old!) It has a Celeron M Processor 1.5GHz, 40GB hard drive and 238(?)MB RAM.
I boot from the CD and (after the gfxboot error), the "trial" screen comes up.
All is good so far..
When I press the "Install Lubuntu 12.10" button, the machine goes off and seems to try to install the program.
