[lubuntu] Problem installing GIMP 2.8 on Ubuntu 12.04.

http://ubuntuforums.org – Dear friends, I have switched today from Ubuntu 10.04. to Ubuntu 12.04. It all works fine - except for GIMP. For some reason, I cannot have GIMP 2.8. installed, neither by using Ubuntu Software Centre nor by pasting commands into Terminal. What shall I do to have it installed? Thank you in anticipation. hi... m on ubuntu 11.10. i want to install gimp on my desktop. i used Ubuntu Software Centre. But this messsage occurs:

Hello, I am using Ubuntu 12.04 64bit quite successfully. I do a lot of image processing and for what I was trying to do, GIMP was not going to cut it. I looked around and found out Fotoxx which would have been a good tool and installed it.

Well, after installing Fotoxx, I have noticed that GIMP does not work for me and I am at a loss as to why that would happen.

Anyone else seeing this?

GIMP 2.6.9 is released. For newbies, GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. As you can infer from the name, GIMP is completely open source and is also free as in free beer. GIMP is pitched as the open source alternative for Adobe Photoshop. GIMP is cross platform and yes, GIMP has a Windows version also.
