Lubuntu - Power/screensaver/monitor timeout settings don't change anything.

http://ubuntuforums.org – I am running Lubuntu on a Samsung NF210 notebook. I'll open up the "power manager" under the 'preferences' in the 'start menu-like button', and for some reason the window that comes up has the title "XFCE Power Manager", even though I thought Lubuntu ran LXDE, not XFCE. None of the settings in this power manager do anything; the screen timeouts, the sleep timeouts, whether or not to ask for a password on wakeup, I can change them to whatever I want in the power manager dialog, but the changes never take effect.
