I tried following the guides and trouble shots that are sticky on this forum, but i'm having a hardtime even identifying the sound board i have!
Also, every little thing i do to fix one side, breaks another. that's never mentioned in the guides. :)
it's an Asus X202E (aka S200 series) laptop.
I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to 12.10 and after this I have no audio devices in the audio settings panel, but other parts of the system indicate that I do still have audio devices.
I am a first time user of Ubuntu. I recently installed it as a dualboot with Windows 7. I have Logitech USB speakers which work fine in Windows. However, I can't get any audio to play in Ubuntu.

I recently installed Debian on my mother's Dell desktop. Everything has been working smoothly so far except for one problem: there is no sound at all (aside from system beep). I ran Knoppix off of a live CD on the same computer and was able to play some mp3 files (using the same speakers), so I'm sure the speakers and sound card are fine.

I've bought a tv a few days ago, tried to connect my laptop via hdmi cable to it - worked perfectly, I just had to choose right audio device output as hdmi and it worked with no issues.
So I've tried to connect my desktop computer to the tv using hdmi cable - video works with no issues, but there's no sound.
