Hi. I have installed a Linux in my USB, I'm using a desktop PC.
In the morning, when I want to use the PC, I wake up and walk to my little office, then I press the Power button in the CPU but sometimes the Desktop doesn't boot, and the monitor don't show anything, but the FANS and the Power supply are ON.
hey all
I've been on Ubuntu for a couple months now, and love it. I have a few minor issues though.
-when told to "shut down" ubuntu cannot turn my computer off. Randomly it will do a full power down, but more often then not it will shut down the os and halt at a blank screen, and I have to hold the power button down to fully power down.
Today, I wanted to install the facebook app on my stock Nexus 7 which I bought just 4 days ago. After charging the tablet, I removed it from the power source, started Chrome and went to facebook, when suddenly the screen went static before dying. Now, when I hold the power button, after a couple of seconds there's one white flash on the screen, and that's it. No Google logo, nothing.
I have An Acer Aspire 1362 Laptop with AMD Sompron 2800+ processor and only 256MB RAM, with Windows XP installed. I have downloaded Lubuntu-12.04-alternate-i386.iso and installed it to a 16GB USB stick. I do not want to install Lubuntu on my hard drive (yet!).
I have got the USB stick to boot, and am working my way through the menu.
I have Lubuntu 12.10 on an IBM Netvista. For some odd reason, whenever I click "Shut Down" from the logout menu in the taskbar, it goes to the "BOOT: IBM: PRESS F12 TO CHANGE BOOT SETTINGS" screen with the IBM logo, then it goes to Lubuntu again and it logs me back in. Any way to get it to shut down right?'
Thanks everyone.

I aim new to Ubuntu coming from Fedora 14-LXDE.
I tried first Lubuntu 11.10 and now I have peppermint two on my acer aspire one L110 Z5; 512MBRAM; 8GB SSD; yesterday under peppermint I upgraded the base OS, which was LUBUNTU 11.04 to 11.10 With LUBUNTU 11.04 Thunderbird worked well.
However, with LUBUNTU 11.10 either as OS or under peppermint environment it stopped working.
After booting in both
