On a freshly installed lubuntu quantal ppc I have no alsamixer in terminal. I have reinstalled alsa-utils package and ran the command "sudo rm /etc/modrpobe.d/blacklist.local.conf" which did the trick in 12.04. I still have no sound or audio icon on taskbar, but alsamixer showed up in terminal for a while with a message; "this sound device does not have any controls".
Hello everybody!
I have Lubuntu 11.10 and I want to control volume on media keys. But I don't know how forced to work alsamixer with media keys.
I have already install:
Code:
sudo apt-get install alsa-utils alsa-base alsa-tools
And with obkey help on "XF86AudioRaiseVolume" key have a command "amixer -c 0 -q set Master 3%+ unmute".
Hey guys,
I did a clean install of 12.10, when I open Sound Settings in gnome the only device in the list is "Dummy Output", and sound is not working.
Sound worked fine out of the box in 12.04
I ran alsamixer, it says my card is "HDA Intel", and chip is "Realtek ALC880".
I've searched the sound threads, but haven't found a solution. OpenSUSE 11.2 64, Audigy 4 sound card, analog stereo speakers. There is no sound at startup, I have to use alsamixer and disable the "S/PDIF Optical Raw" setting, then sound works fine for the rest of my session. How do I save this? I've tried alsactl store as root, but it doesn't save it.

Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Classic interface on my ThinkPad laptop. My sound card is a Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller.
Now, while using ubuntu, the gnome mixer (gnome-sound-applet) disappears randomly and the volume up/down buttons on my pc stop working.
Greetings forum.
As the title alludes to, I am using Linux Lite 1.0.4 and I am having problems getting the sound to work properly.
My sound card is a PCI - "Creative Labs, Sound Blaster Live 5.1" surround sound card, and the problem is, I cannot get sound from anything other than the front speakers.
I have tried adjusting the options in the sound preferences - Menu> Multimedia>
iBook G4, 2005.
I have been through the PPCFAQ and the pages it links to for further detail with out any success in making alsamixer launch. I have been on the subject for many days and with out being able to get anywhere. I may have made an awful mess, hopefully managable.
I just installed Lubuntu 12.10 on my computer, and I can't get the sound to work. I right clicked on the speaker icon in the taskbar, and clicked "volume control settings". A screen tries to open up but immediately disappears. Must be a minor bug in the system somewhere. My question is, is there a way to adjust sound settings from the terminal? If so, what command do I use? Thanks!
