[lubuntu] menu borders for adwaita

http://ubuntuforums.org – Ubuntu 12.04, 64bit, Gnome Classic. Is there a way to tweak (gtk3) Adwaita and give it menu borders? Please note that this question follows extensive googling, extensive trial and error: (1) All links older than April 2012 are obsolete and useless. (2) The files gtk-main.css and gtk-widgets.css do not exist any longer. They are now part of a binary file. The file gtkrc does exactly nothing. (Hardware)

I had the same issue, but I solved it in the following way:I have backed up the file gtk.css in /usr/share/themes/Adwaita/gtk-3.0 into gtk.css.back (in case something goes wrong);I copied the file gtk-dark.css to gtk.css;I backed up the file gtkrc in /usr/share/themes/Adwaita/gtk-2.0 into gtkrc.back (just in case);I opened the file gtkrc and pasted a code similar to the one I include below.

I had the normal smooth adwaita theme in F16.

Hi, I installed a bunch of gnome 3 themes in Fedora 17 via yum, but they aren't showing anywhere when I start gnome-tweak-tool.

Why is this broken?

these are the themes: yum install zukitwo-gtk3-theme adwaita-gtk3-theme albatross-gtk3-theme bluebird-gtk3-theme egtk-gtk3-theme greybird-gtk3-theme light-gtk3-theme zukini-gtk3-theme zukiwi-gtk3-theme

I found an advice here: installed gnome-themes-standard and gnome-themes-extras packages, created file ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini:

[Settings] gtk-theme-name = Adwaita gtk-fallback-icon-theme = gnome

But this didn't help.

Normally you just throw your mouse at the screen corner, click and the menu shows up, right? But in my case I have to move my mouse at least 1px down and right before clicking. Tried with several themes: Ambiance, Radiance, Adwaita. I'm using the "No effects" gnome (meaning no compiz I think).

The default color in my top panel has changed from white to a very dark grey, making my menus virtually unreadable against the black of the Ambiance theme. This includes even the login screen menu.

I used Gnome Tweak to change the theme to Adwaita, but while some text has gone light grey (e.g. Date/Time), the login menu text remains dark grey, as do most icons (e.g.
