I am using Lenovo computer having the following configuration: 516 MB RAM and 3.06 GHz CPU
When I installed 11.04, the system was getting very slow. From the Internet, I read an article that Lubuntu desktop are very light-weight desktop, so I installed it in Ubuntu.
Hi,
Lubuntu 12.04 64bit
I recently installed Chrome from a downloaded .deb package, it works fine, so removed Lubuntu's default browser Chromium with:
Code:
sudo apt-get autoremove --purge chromium-browser
After confirming with 'Y' I walked off, later returning to find that Firefox had been automatically installed as a replacement!
I have just installed lubuntu-desktop on top of ubuntu 12.04. I understand that chromium is the default browser in lubuntu but I was expecting Firefox to show up under the Internet menu. It is installed in my computer, and it shows in the Lubuntu Software Center under installed applications but I cannot find it anywhere. How do I have it show up on the Internet menu?
Hello all,
I'm a Linux newbie (but have been reading and burning midnight oil for some four weeks now) so when I don't know something, please don't throw any heavy objects in my general direction. ;)
I have an older DELL 450MHz PII desktop, 1GB of RAM and a 80GB disk. I had the idea of using it as a personal web server with Apache2. XP worked but was on the slow side, although not too bad.
With chrome open I can watch a video on youtube. At a certain time from watching it, the video gets slower. You can see the video and sound slowing. Eventually it gets so slow that it just stops all together. I have tried this with firefox also.
I have an ATI graphics card and installed the proprietary drivers.
Hello ,
I recently installed Lubuntu 13.04 on my Desktop. Earlier I had Lubuntu 11.10. I use chromium browser in it. Earlier print to file would work fine in it , the job would be done in less than 10 seconds.
Since the fresh install , I am not able to print pdfs. When I give the print command , the Chromium browser hangs.
Hi I'm a new linux user and I installed lubuntu 12.04 on my old PC to function as a HTPC. I want to watch streaming media from Chinese sites such as tv.sohu.com or letv.com, but both of those sites don't work.
I downloaded the lubuntu-restricted-extras which gives me flashplayer and I disabled the flash plugin that comes with chromium. Youtube plays fine, but these 2 websites don't work.
hello .. I've got a piii1ghz512mb with a dual boot of winxp and lubuntu precise .. on the lubuntu side (definately preferred), I had flash working just fine in both chrome and chromium. after I installed a whopping 189 updates, flash stopped working in both. In my last review I considered Kubuntu 11.04 as an alternative to Ubuntu for disgruntled Ubuntu users. But there's another Ubuntu derivative that should be taken into consideration as well: Lubuntu 11.04.
Lubuntu uses the LXDE desktop environment, a much simpler and faster alternative to Unity, GNOME and KDE.
