I installed Lubuntu yesterday on an older Dell laptop and the installation went fine. The only thing not working after the installation was the wireless.
I've been reading some stuff on using wicd as opposed to nm, in relation to a problem another forum user had posted.
It's suggestion was the removal of the network-manager package, and installation of the wicd package.
WELL. I can't find any network-manager package in my system to remove or even tinker with :/ All I could find was nm-applet.
I'm trying to get OpenVPN to work properly on my install of Xubuntu 11.10. So far, no luck.
I've just installed Lubuntu 12.10 on an old laptop (IBM ThinkPad 600X). However, after booting Lubuntu, everything looks like in negative (eg. colors are inverted, like there's some assistive technology enabled).
During installation (using alternative installer), colors were OK. Before installing Lubuntu, I had windows installed, it was showing colors OK as well.
Hey all,
I recently came back to linux after a long break (5+ years). I installed lubuntu 11.10 on an old machine. By default it used lxde. I wanted to see what gnome and kde are like these days so I installed them through the package manager and rebooted. When I go to the login screen I have about 10 options on the list. None of the gnome options work.
hi i would liketo set up a network , all my machine have lubuntu or ubuntu no windows at all, i would also like to set up printers on the network.I have searched google but cannot find much on networks on lubuntu, does anyone know how to do this or any web sites that may help please.
I'm using Lubuntu 13.04. Yesterday I managed to create a dsl connection and everything was working fine. Today, when I started my computer, by some reason, the dsl and wired connection options have disappeared from the network manager.
I don't really know what other info should I give, so if you need some information, please just ask for it. :)
In my last review I considered Kubuntu 11.04 as an alternative to Ubuntu for disgruntled Ubuntu users. But there's another Ubuntu derivative that should be taken into consideration as well: Lubuntu 11.04.
Lubuntu uses the LXDE desktop environment, a much simpler and faster alternative to Unity, GNOME and KDE.
Ok, I installed Xubuntu 11.10 on my Toshiba Satalite C50 dual booted with windows 7. After that I eventually installed the KDE desktop and the Lubuntu Desktop after KDE. When I rebooted the boot screen said lubuntu instead of Xubuntu and the login screen is now the lubuntu login screen instead of the xubuntu one.
Here is my problem, I can't seen to get past the Lubuntu login screen.
