Installed 12.10 on my Toshiba L30 and it works well, but uses much more memory than 11.10 did. I could get 11.10 down to about 76mb idle and 12.10 was around 120mb! (This is why I gave up on Lubuntu and tried loads of other things . . . ) Finally found out what was eating up the extra ram - lightdm was using 30mb to do pretty much nothing. I've now gone back to using lxdm and I'm getting about 86mb total use at idle, and it looks better too. I made the big mistake of removing the l (Hardware)

I'm running several django sites on uwsgi, and I'm attempting to optimise my configuration for memory usage, but the --idle and --die-on-idle flags don't seem to be doing anything.

Each daemon starts off at around 10-12MB and increases to around 30MB once it has served a request, but then stays there even when idle for some time.

I'm running 12.04 and usually use Lubuntu, but have some other environments installed. My installation is encrypted and on a SSD, if it matters.

I had a weird problem recently when booting up. I get to lightdm and am able to log into the guest account but when I try my user account, it boots me back to lightdm.

Hello guys, I have a problem with my mother's Windows 7 netbook. Some time ago I installed Lubuntu on it, but I didn't really use it, so I decided to remove it.

i installed lubuntu and i dont like it. i did a clean update to lubuntu rather than making it dual. now when i want to go back to windows it wont work like i put the windows vista cd in and it wont load and it just load lubuntu back and i know for a fact that the cd works just fine. i dont know what to do??

I use NFS to connect to an NFS share on my iMac from my Lubuntu netbook. Initially I could not connect to the NFS share on my iMac. I found the answer in changing my UID in Lubuntu from 1000 to 501 (so now these are equal on both my iMac and my Lubuntu netbook for the same user).

But when I log-in to Lubuntu LXDE my username does not show up anymore in the list of users.

I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on an old Dell Centrino/512mb machine that was running too slow with Windows to be useful. I am completely new to Linux and muddling my way through as well as I can. The machine still runs pretty slow on Ubuntu. So I loaded the Gnome shell and the classic (no effects) runs fairly well. Everything seemed to be fine up until this.
