http://ubuntuforums.org – Just after the release I installed Lubuntu 12.04 on an old ThinkPad T43 with a 1024x768 resolution display. This T43 is also often used in a dock connected to an old 19" Dell LCD monitor with 1280x1024 native resolution via a standard VGA-cable. Every time the T43 was booted in the dock with the Dell monitor it has been necessary to manually change resolution using the auto setting. Selecting the correct resolution 1280x768 for VGA did not change resolution only the auto setting worked. Yesterday the result of using the auto setting was a black screen instead of the normal desktop. Af (Hardware)

I have a Dell Inspiron 4000, 900 Mhz Pentium III, 192 MB RAM,10.1 GB disk running Lubuntu 12.04. When I start the computer, and I check the display resolution, Monitor Settings claims that the max resolution is 1024x768.

So I have an Acer x163w widescreen monitor. In monitor setting my Monitor is an unknown. My resolution size is stuck at 1024x768 i believe.

I have tried manually to change the screen resolution and nothing. I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on an Hp Pavillion m7360 Desktop.

Updating the NVidia drivers sends my machine into a storm and things just fall apart until I have to do fresh install.

I have Dell 7520 with AMD Raedon 7XXXM graphics card, thankfully, I got to make it work. But the problem now is screen resolution, as I have screen resolution of 1920 X 1080 for 15.6" laptop, which is way too much. In the Display Monitor settings, I cannot change it to whatever I want, only the resolution with 16:9 works perfectly.

I have a Dell XPS13 connected via a mini-display port+DVI cable to an external monitor. I have installed Kubuntu 13.04 and all is working well, EXCEPT that the resolution on the external monitor only mirrors the resolution of my laptop screen (1920x1080). I only see one "default" screen when I try to set it up (settings-> display, or kcm_screen).

I have 2 monitors. On the left I have a Dell 1704FPT and on the right I have a Dell E177FP.

I face with a big problem , I bought a monitor that it supports at last 1280x960 resolution and i create an application on Ubuntu in 1280x1024 resolution,it takes time to finish it so in this case i should adjust and fit my screen on Ubuntu with this lower resolution, when my system boot via 19 inch monitor that has my suitable resolution , it detects and set this resolution and it comes up , I ch

At work I use a Dell Latitude E4300 with a resolution of 1280x800 and an external monitor with a resolution of 1280x1024. I'm runnin g Natty on it with Gnome 3. Everything is working OK, but the desktop seems to be 1024 pixels high on both screens, so it extends past the bottom of the laptop's screen, which makes using any sort of dock or just a bottom panel pretty annoying.

I'm using dual monitor on Ubuntu 12.10. Both monitor had same brand and type, the only difference is one using DVI cable and others using RGB. The DVI Monitor resolution are 1280x1024 and the other monitor are 1024x768. How I could change the resolution of my RGB monitor to be the same as DVI monitor.

I have a Dell laptop with a resolution of 1600 x 900 and I have a second monitor as Dell 24". The resolution that Ubuntu is configured in a virtual box is 1024 * 800. How can I fix the resolution on the Dell monitor to get a higher resolution?
