I tried to install MATE from Add/Remove Software, selecting MATE from the package collections. During the download/install there was a power outage. The result is something that is somewhat installed.
When I log in, MATE is one of the sessions available. If I use it, it seems to mostly work but it is broken. What does not work is gnome-terminal.
Hi all,
After installing Fedora 18 with gnome 3 along with some packages, I tried to install MATE, but I"m not able to do it since it seems there is some conflict with duplicate packages.
after doing a
sudo apt-get --purge remove mate-panel mate-applets
and a

for trying to get rid of a trayicon issue on my system, the mate window manager seems to be not working anymore.
after login, i still get a gui, but only a terminal is running in there.

I ran an apt-get -f install to repair my package list and it removed some of the core packages and updates on my system. Is there a way to create identifiable Byobu sessions so that when I've got multiple sessions running, the byobu-select-session menu gives me a list of sessions I can recognize, as opposed to non-descript tmux port numbers?
In an ideal world, it would be great to be able to both start a session giving it a name and to modify such a session to change a name if it's already running?
I have an unreliable Internet connection. Sometimes it is lost while logged on to the text command interface of a Ubuntu server. This results in a "garbage" user session (seen when using the who command).
Is there any way I can login to the server and continue an old session, or should I kill the "garbage" sessions? In that case, how do I do that without killing the current session?
