Looking for some feedback on rebuilding one of my machines.

http://crunchbang.org – The 8350 is quite a beast. Get 1866MHz RAM, as any faster wouldn't make a difference (unless you overclock). As long as all of those tasks you're talking about are not at full load, I think the 8350 could suffice. It might be worth keeping that old Q6600 machine though, just in case the 8350 isn't enough. You could make use of execution caps in virtualbox. What are you going to use for storage? I'd get an SSD to go with that beast. (HowTos)
