I am new to using AIX. I am trying to figure out how to make a backup of the system. there is a rootvg and a datavg on it. I would like to get both but datavg is the one i really need. I have tried using mksysb to burn to a dvd but it does not look like it is writing to the disk. the step i tried was to mount a cifs and do i backup to there. I got an error that it could not connect.
I want to make a complete backup of my system. I want to be able to migrate my system to another machine in case of a crash.
The method should be not too complicated and the backup should be possible while the system is running.
I have tried to make an iso using dd command. But is it possible to copy this iso to a computer with a different disk geometry?
I use terminal and vim extensively, while writing code.
I have written a rsync-based system backup for my Linux system. The aim is to be able to redeploy the system entirely from the saves, so I don't only backup homedirs. I have excluded a few top-level directories from the backup: /proc, /sys, /mnt, /tmp.
I wonder whether I can exclude /run and still be able to get a viable save?
Here's a hypothetical situation that I'm trying to figure out:
Step 1: Buy a new phone, unlock the bootloader, root it, and put a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) on it.
Step 2: Make a full backup (presumably saved in TWRP or CWM folder on SD)
Step 3: Revert back to stock and unroot the device.
Step 4: Re-root the device and reinstall a custom recovery.

I'm having problems with Magento when doing a system backup. Every time I do a system backup Magento changes the file permissions and causes a 500 server error when the backup has completed and the admin screen is reloaded.
The problem is the same as this unanswered question. I am not setting 'maintenance mode' on.
