http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Problem: My USB headphones work sometimes, and sometimes they don't. Parsed /proc/asound/cards for the right settings to /etc/asound.conf and rebooted. Worked. Next time I booted. It didn't work again, but nothing had changed in asound.conf. Querying /proc/asound/cards over the span of several boots, I discovered that my soundcards are playing something akin to musical chairs. Sometimes, it's designated as card #1, other times it's #2 or #3. Is this due to some change in the kernel? Is there a way I can manually associate the card numbers with the physical cards to keep this from (HowTos)
