I recently reinstalled Ubuntu 12.04 while keeping my home directory. I've had numerous issues, and now I am at this stage:
When the Ubuntu purple splash screen loads for the first time, it blinks for about 10 seconds, and then freezes (like it would normally before switching to login).
Hi!I installed Arch with LXDE as desktop environment and LXDM as display manager (as I did on two other machines before with perfect result).Strangely enough, on this machine the screen resolution was not set automatically to the monitor's default (I am using the xf86-video-nouveau driver for my mx440 nvidia card).
So I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04, and the screen resolution on the login screen is off. It is way to big for my monitor. I have a 21 inch monitor. The resolution is at 1600 by 1200 or whatever it is. It's to big, haha.
How do I turn down the resolution for the login window?
Thanks for the help.
Hi,
I have installed ubuntu 12.04 lts. I seem to have an issue with the screen resolution, in that it is too big, resulting in me not being able to see the login. I have googled this and seen solutions however as I am not technically minding I don't quite understand what to do. The instructions have been in computer commands.
Hi
I'm using 11.10 with Unity.
My glass randomly cracked in my pocket the other day. More like a pin point shatter (like a small bullet hole). With that though the screen resolution went down. I can now see the pixels very well (almost looks like it's running at 800 x 480).
I have chosen to use automatic login. But every now and then I am asked for username and password when the computer boots.
When I do get automatically login the screen resolution is changed to 800 x 600 instead of 1280 x 1024.
How do I get those two (resolution and log in) settings sticky?
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 (updated today!)
I had suddenly the above, well known error message, after rebooting and installing nvidia drivers (nvidia-current) the loading screen is full sized, but the login screen is 640x480. And after logging in also the same screen size. How to raise screen size settings, I even dont have menu only comman line in this small resolution.
I tried xrandr but no success. Any idea?
v12.10
Here is the situation. Yesterday I installed 11.2, gnome, on a desktop box, all seemed to go well. I shut down at night to save power. Login the next day (today), as user, fails silently. Login screen shows full name, I enter pw, and screen goes black as tho it is getting ready to start the desktop. Then the login screen comes back.
I can login as root. Pw's are NOT the same.
