I used to login as :ssh root@servip with a password authentication into my centos 6 server.
I am not sure if what I have done has caused this, but while trying to get over my problem of accessing webmin remotely I followed the following tutorial until I reached:
adding auth required pam_google_authenticator.so into /etc/pam.d/sshd. Then by mistake, I have closed the ssh session.
I've just built my first LTSP, and have pxe booted my first client, I receive the login screen, but after putting in my user and password I get "ltsp login no response from server restarting" and I'm presented again with the login portal.

I'm having a weird issue. When I put my password using my account (ramiz) on the login screen of GUI, a blink of screen and it take me back to the login screen. I tried with Guest user and it is logging me in. I also tried Ctrl+ATL+F1 to switch to command mode and try to login there with sudo -s.
I've ran a yum update on my CentOS 5.8 box and now I am unable to log into the console as root. Basically what happens is I receive the login prompt, enter the correct username and password, and am immediately spit back to the login prompt.
I am on Fedora 16 KDE spin. Yesterday I ran the fsck command and that broke things. I can login via the tty, so I guess it has nothing to do with the shadow file. The login screen reappears after login no matter how many times I try to get past it. The permissions are the same as before. Also I have tried renaming the .kde folder. Doesn't help. This affects all the users, even root.
I am using Ubuntu 11.10 which was working fine till today.
If I try to login using one of my user accounts it directs me back to the login screen, which is followed by a black screen.
I am sure the password I enter is correct because if the password is wrong it prompts "Invalid Password".
On the other hand I am able to login using a root or guest account.
