Hi
I have a laptop with 2 hard drives. 60 GB each
I have winXP in harddisk 1
I want to install fedora on harddisk 2
I go through the installation of fedora 12 from DVD. but at the end when system reboots I do not get the dual boot menu. and laptop boots directly to windows.
Hello,
I have troubles with installation, I tried to install Fedora from DVD, but when I restart laptop with the DVD, it just won't boot. The laptop becomes stuck and the screen is black and I can't do anything. I must manually turn off laptop. I tried to burn the ISO image on 3 different DVDs from different computers but with the same effect.
I am trying to install F17 on a Asus G75 Laptop. I shrank the Window7 partition using the windows disk management utility. Then installed F17 using a installation DVD. To boot the DVD I set the BIOS Boot Option Priority to P2: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT51M and installed Fedora without any problem. I removed the install DVD to reboot the computer.
Greeings,
I've ran into an issue during the DVD upgrade of Fedora 16 to Fedora 17 on a dual boot, two drive, system.
Win7 is on sda and Fedora 16 is on sdb. Both drives boot from the MBR via the BIOS boot menu (F12). This keeps the Windows drive untouched.
When upgrading from the F17 DVD, I don't get the option to select to install the bootloader to the MBR on sdb.
Here's what happened:I got a new laptop last week, and installed Fedora to dual boot with Windows 7. Fedora kept locking up when I logged in, so last night I tried to install Ubuntu on that partition, and that's where things went wrong. After the liveCD wouldn't work,I used the Wubi installer, but it did this weird half-install within Windows, which is not what I wanted.
Hello everyone,
On my laptop there's Fedora and Windows XP. After too many problems with XP I've formatted the windows partition and reinstalled XP. Since that, I can't boot anymore on Fedora.
This is a computer I'm using at work and I'm not the person who installed Fedora; I've just found 4 CD containing the program.
With this, is it possible for me to recreate the boot?
I am new to Linux and fairly new to computers. My laptop is an ASUS N56V and has UEFI BIOS (I did not know this ahead of time). I downloaded fedora 17 to a live CD and set my BIOS to run the disk drive first. Went and installed fedora 17 as dual boot so I could still use windows by shrinking the windows partition and then using the free space for fedora.
Hi guys/gals,
I have installed ubuntu before on my laptop (hp envy m6) before no problem. I currently have a CLEAN (i think) install of windows 8 (meh) on it. I am trying to now keep my Windows 8 install on the internal drive, and USB boot off of a 500GB toshiba external USB drive. I have the Fedora 18 disk in the DVD drive.
Hi everyone,
when I boot the liveCD, no matter what options I choose, I always get the login screen, meaning I need to enter a user and a password. After searching for this type of behavior, I found a few several answers:
-enter at the username and password (ie: blank) doesn't work
-tried acpi=off, login screen again
But... Fedora 12 installed fine.
