As you all already know, the LinuxCon Europe 2012 event opened its gates to the Linux public on Monday, November 5. Below we've posted pictures from the first day of the event, courtesy of The Linux Foundation.
The event started with keynotes from Canonical's Mark Shuttleworth, Red Hat's Brian Stevens, Evernote's Dave Engbergand LWN.net's editor, Jon Corbet.
An Ubuntu powered robot has welcomed the participants in the first day of LinuxCon Europe 2012, held in Barcelona, Spain. LinuxCon Europe 2012 is organized by The Linux Foundation, with the help of Embedded Linux Conference Europe. PAL Robotics has agreed to bring REEM, a humanoid robot, in the first day of the event to greet the participants.
The Linux Foundation's first LinuxCon Europe, co-located with the Kernel Summit, will be held October 26-28 in Prague, Czech Republic. LinuxCon Europe and the Embedded Linux Conference call for participation ends next week.
LinuxCon Europe is approaching fast. We'll be gathering in Barcelona, Spain November 5-7, 2012 to help developers, SysAdmins and business executives connect and collaborate while having a great time. One of this year's keynote spakers is Dave Engberg, CTO at Evernote.
Earlier this week we published the full schedule for LinuxCon Europe and Embedded Linux Conference Europe. In many ways, I think the technical content for LinuxCon Europe may be the best collection of speakers we've ever had.
Earlier this week I wrote about the VIP/speaker gift we're giving away at LinuxCon Europe (Twitter hashtag: #linuxcon) and shared with the community how anyone could win their own Linux Futbol Club soccer jersey (make sure to read that story, you could still win if you comment).
I also mentioned the co-located events taking place at LinuxCon Europe.
The Linux Foundation has announced that a new individual membership drive and promotion that offers a 50 percent discount for LinuxCon Europe 2012 registration, is now available.
If you join The Linux Foundation in the October 1-31 interval, you will receive a 50% discount for LinuxCon Europe 2012 and Embedded Linux Conference Europe (ELCE) 2012 taking between 5 – 7 November.

We kick off our LinuxCon Europe Q&A series today with keynote speaker and openMaterials Co-founder Catarina Mota. Mota shares some really interesting insights with us on open hardware, her favorite projects and how open hardware compares to open source software. I'm really looking forward to hearing her speak at LinuxCon Europe in Barclenoa November 5-7, 2012.
Two weeks ago, openSUSE Ambassadors Ilias and Diomidis joined the SUSE crew at LinuxCon in Barcelona, Spain, to represent the Geeko to the visitors of this conference. As most ambassadors do, they wrote an excellent report about the event which we didn’t want you all to miss.
