Linux Mint 10 is the first version of Linux Mint with built-in support for the B-tree File System (btrfs). Btrfs is one of the newest file systems in the Linux kernel. It is a copy on write file system with the following features: snapshotting and writtable snapshots, object-level mirroring and stripping, file system compression, multi-device [...]
I downloaded v. 12.10 last night but accidentally closed a window that had the download going in one of the tabs.
I want to to download some subtitle files, stored in rar files form http://subs.sab.bz/ The site provides rss feeds for its new releases. Unfortunately, the link provided will open a download page, but will not get the file.
The download page has a button in the middle, and clicking on it will trigger the download of the desired file.
I have been using Ubuntu 12.10 for some time now, and I kinda hate it. 12.04 was a lot better. While i can still revert to 12.04, I am thinking about trying out Linux Mint based on 12.10 (the Nadia version). I have not tried Mint before.
The question I have is, can all 'Ubuntu' based packages be installed in Mint also, without any issues?
I have a server in USA (Linux box B), and my home PC (Linux box A),
and I need download a file from website C,
The issue is, it is very slow to download a file direct from A,
so I need download the file when I log in B, and sftp get the file from A.
Is there any way that I can download file and use B as proxy directly through only one line command?
I've been trying to download some linux programs, and I get.tar.gz files in my downloads. I've been trying to download it with terminal tar -zxvf, and always get
no such file or directory
I can't seem to find my root directory to the download. When I select properties on my tar.gz file, I get
/home/Downloads
Is there no C:\ ?
I started downloading a big file and accidently deleted it a while ago. I know how to get its current contents by cping /proc/<pid>/fd/<fd> but since the download is still in progress it'll be incomplete at the time I copy it someplace else.
Can I somehow salvage the file right at the moment the download finishes but before the downloader closes the file and I lose it for good?

In this tutorial, the reader will learn how to install the Linux Mint 12 KDE on a btrfs file system. The B-tree File system (abbreviated to acronym Btrfs) has not matured far enough to be used as a default file system on Linux machines.
I have Windows installed on one SSD. The SATA cable is currently unplugged because I'm about to install two Linux distros on another SSD, those being Linux Mint 14 and BackTrack 5.
