Linux Mint 8 “Helena” KDE Community Edition Released

http://digitizor.com – The final release of Linux Mint 8 (Helena) KDE Community Edition is available for download. It is based on Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, Linux 2.6.31, KDE 4.3.4 and Xorg 7.4. Improvements in this release includes OEM installation, possibility to ignore updates, multiple selection in the Software Manager. The Software Manager has recieved major improvements. It now shows more content and screenshots are also introduced at the corner. The Software Manager is now also aware of the APT status of each application. This means you can now see the size and version number of each application and whether they’re installed on your system or not. There are also some changes in the default software installation. The new applications that are now added by default are: Minitube – A YouTube video player Tucan – An application to upload and download files from many file-hosting services Google Widgets – to place Google Widgets on the plasma desktop Songbird – A music player KDE Partition Manager Guard Dog – A tool to configure firewall You can download the 1.1 GB Linux Mint “Helena” KDE Community Edition from the Linux Mint website.
