Boot one of over a hundred Linux distros from a USB disk. With Live USB, software you can run on both Windows and Linux computers, it only takes a couple of clicks to make your USB disk a bootable Linux disk. The live CD just might be the most useful tool in any geek’s arsenal – we’ve pointed out 50 uses for live CDs in the past and plan on showing you many more.
I am trying to make a liveboot usb of Linux Mint. I used the startup disk creator and it made an additional (unmountable) filesystem on my hard drive (Linux Mint MATE 64-bit) anyone know what it is and what it's for? I am trying to make a live boot, similar to a live boot CD but on a USB so it is read/write, not just read.
I was hoping to check out Linux Mint but I cannot figure out how to get the live image on a USB stick.
I'm trying to boot Fedora 17 from a USB, I tried both the DVD version and the one on the main page. I've used: Linux Live USB Creator, Live USB Creator (Fedora-one), and Unetbooting. I also tried after clicking "a" and
Code:
root=live:CDLABEL=LIVE if=/home/per/Fedora-17-x86_64-DVD.iso of=/dev/sdb
Everything failed. Fedora just don't want to install no matter what I'm trying.

I like the way the yumi [url] http://www.pendriveapps.com/yumi-multiboot-live-usb-creator/ [/url] make the multiboot flash. can i deal in Linux the same task as easy as yumi does in windows? With yumi i just browse to selected iso i.e. DVDwindows.iso and i get the multiboot flash drive ready in few moments.
Can't find it in /media or /mnt.
What I want:
live distro so I have guarantee it won't break and will boot/work every single time
have access to directory on that USB drive for storage purposes, ie.
I have really screwed up. I was working in fixing a second drive windows install so I could dual boot and somehow either deleted or made my linux boot non-functional.
I am running on a 9,04 live CD (all I have) but actually have 12.04 installed on the hard drive.
I have tried google searching this subject and have tried a few things, but they have all failed.
I am at a loss of what to do.
