Intel and Nokia have scrapped their stand-alone Maemo and Moblin operating systems and merged them into a single open-source OS named MeeGo.

In a pre-emptive strike against the expected onslaught of ARM-based netbooks running Google Inc.'s Android operating system, Hewlett-Packard Co. on Tuesday announced a new Intel Atom netbook that will run HP's custom version of Linux and cost just $279 upon its debut.

VoX Communications announced it will resell Nokia's Maemo Linux-based N900 smartphone with a mobile VoIP plan offering unlimited data and voice service. Meanwhile, Nokia confirmed that the N900 will be the first smartphone to run the Moblin/Maemo mashup, MeeGo, when a preliminary version of the operating system debuts at the end of the month....

Nokia and Intel has just announced the development of MeeGo, the new Linux based Operating System specially designed for portable devices including netbook, smartphone and non-desktop platform like TV and vehicles. This new OS is a combination between Nokia Maemo and Intel Moblin. Both OS are Linux based system.
