Linux App Like WinSCP

Whilst living at university I use winSCP to move files between my laptop (from my college room) and a computer (in the department). This is a simple command in winSCP... username@machineIPaddress

Whilst at home I cannot ssh straight into the machine. I have to ssh into the universities Linux system and then ssh into the actual computer in the department i.e.

I have putty and winscp, but winscp doesn't work in this case because I need to use a command cd ../public in order to enter the directory as I can't find it for some reason.

How would I use putty or the command prompt to copy Windows files onto a Linux server? Would cat work in copying and pasting the file over?

is there any way to automate the process of copiying the files between windows and unix without doing it manually,using tools such as winscp.

I need to copy files from unix to windows such by executing some commands in windows.

i goolged it and found these tools that can do this.

ftp sftp scp pscp winscp console.

i am totally new to Opensuse and to filezilla. I formerly used winscp - a windows-client for ssh.:) now i have a linux box and want to connect to the server via ssh - using filezilla.

Can i use the same keys as i used in WinSCP - where should i store them and the third question.

I have a bash script for deploying my app jars and sh files from the dev machine to prod machine (centos). it simply calls scp and copies all the necessary files. when I run it from an ubuntu box, everything's good.

I am working Linux server machine. Somebody by mistake(or may be knowingly) deleted few folders and files from the machine. How is this possible to recover those files and folders????:confused:

I normally logged in through Putty and winscp only. And don't have any history for putty sessions. So there is high probability that it is deleted from winscp session only.

For all my other Unix Virtual Machines, I use SSH and I use WinSCP to transfer files from my Windows Vista machine to the VM's.

Now, One of the VM's is using rlogin, What can I use to transfer files from my machine to the VM?

I use PuTTY to connect remotely to the machine, but that is through rlogin.

Please can someone help me?
