Linksys AE3000 Wireless N USB adapter compatibility.

I have a problem installing the wireless network USB adapter on CentOS 6 on my home computer. There is no driver for Linux, but Windows.Is there other ways to install the adapter?... [by pingpong]

I plan to install ubuntu on an old Dell Latitude C640 (mfr. 2003) and will increase RAM to 1GB. It has a Linksys Wireless N network adapter (model WPC300N V1). Two questions, what version of ubuntu should I download/install and will the Linksys wireless adapter work?

I have been having some issues with the USB wireless adapter that I have been using on my desktop installation and rather than installing a different kernel, I was thinking of paying $20 to get a new wireless adapter. I can't seem to figure out how to get my old linksys usb adapter to work with opensuse 11.2. So, I was wondering if there is a retail USB adapter currently out there that I can buy and use it out of the box with opensuse 11.2?

Okay, before I made the switch to Ubuntu, I was running a Linksys WGA600N gaming adapter on XP as a wireless adapter. It worked like a charm. I don't even remember having to configure anything to get it working on XP. The internet was up and running right after I plugged it in, if I recall correctly.

I also have a linksys wireless-g adapter which was made ages ago and works even better. I'm a little confused by these results and am wondering if it's a driver issue.
