I accidentally unplugged the network cable after finishing installation and it took 30 seconds to 1 minute more time to boot then if the network cable is plugged and into the modem.
Is anyone else noticing this with Kernel 3.8.3-201.fc18.x86_64 ?:
I'm using wired ethernet and if the cable falls out or is unplugged, plugging the cable back in will not work to get the network back. NetworkManager will just show the port as empty. My cable tends to fall out occasionally because the lock tab on my cable is a bit weak.
My laptop unplugged stands 1 minute.

In our office we have many PCs, all of them have static IP addresses.
We had a problem with one server with ip 192.168.1.10 dropping off the network occasionally. I unplugged the network cable from the server and from pinged 192.168.1.10 from another host and there was a response.
I searched all PCs to see if any has such ip but i didn't found a one.

I installed different linux distributions like ubuntu 11.10, Linux mint 12, fedora 16. but the problem remains the same. Then i realize what actually wrong. its not the driver or kernel of linux.
I am using Ubuntu very recently. My DSL connection with the modem is working fine but after certain idle time the modem connection is getting disconnected and I am not getting the icons to reconnect. If I go to System Settings--> Network, it is showing "Network cable is unplugged". It works fine if i reboot. This is a sudden problem and no configuration has been altered.
Hello, we got a problem with our Lenovo C200 Series.
We had a problem with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to make the touchscreen work.
