LibreOffice causes desktop to flicker/crash

http://askubuntu.com – I have been working on two documents in LibreOffice (one text document of 40 pages and one presentation with 230 slides). I have been copying from the text document and pasting into the slides. Around the 120th slide, or so, many times (as I copied) the screen flickered, the windows disappeared, or the screen went black with stripes on it. I do not seem to have these problems with programs other than LibreOffice. I assume, that it is pretty close to crashing completely, and I had unresponsive spells in Libreoffice before, where I had to restart the computer. (I use a bonobo extreme with NVIDEA (HowTos)

I am using ubuntu12.04 and the xfce4.6.

Now I remove the libreoffice through the Ubuntu Software Center,however it seems that it is not removed completely.

Since I can find the libreoffice item at the menu Application-Office-LIbreOffice,also I can run the libreoffice command in the terminal.

Hello,please excuse my bad english.I have a problem. Since the libreoffice update from 3.5.6 to 3.6.1.4 libreoffice don't start. For a short time i see the splash-screen and that's it. In the terminal, when i type soffice or lowriter or libreoffice --writer i can't see any message. Also i deleted the ~/.config/libreoffice folder. But that doesn't help.

Hello, I have an hp compaq 6720s laptop dual boot win vista/ ubuntu 12.04 with gnome fallback desktop.

I have installed the default libreoffice of precise, i.e. 3.5.4.2

I am doing a .odt document with writer including text and images .jpg and .bmp downloaded from web, the document is about 9 pages with 12 images.

When I try to open .ppt slides with "LibreOffice Impress" be slowed. And this problem happen only with slides worked in "Microsoft Office Power Point". Why LibreOffice is difficult to read these files ?

When I minimize an open document I am working on in LibreOffice Writer, it disappears into the launcher panel. It does not show any little white arrow beside the LibreOffice writer icon. When I click it, it opens up a new document. I cannot get my original document back unless I do Super+W.

Does anyone have a fix, or is this a new bug? Running 12.04 LTS.

Some PowerPoint presentations (.ppt files) seem to be trying to open in LibreOffice Writer.

When opening the file, it asks for a character encoding, then opens as a Writer document with gibberish in it.

OK, I've discovered that installing libreoffice-gnome (apparently the default is equivalent to libreoffice-kde) fixes this by making libreoffice look gnome-like:...But that leaves a new problem, because the gnome theme's UI elements are somewhat bigger.
