http://www.talkandroid.com – I know the Optimus G on AT&T and Sprint is on many an Android fan’s wish list this fall. However, this bit of news may curb that enthusiasm just a bit. Our pals over at Android Central have personally written LG and received this response from LG themselves:   The Optimus G doesn’t support an unlocked bootloader.   Straight and to the point. I can’t say that this comes as a huge surprise, it’s just a little perplexing why manufacturers continue to do this.  But there it is, right there in black and white.   We’ve come to expect complete root access for all most Android devices, even if they haven’t been released yet. So while the Sprint LG Optimus G will be in our hands in a matter of weeks, prospective owners will have the luxury of being able to root the phone as soon as they power it on.

So I've been delving a lot into the whole LG Optimus versus getting a Nexus 4.

If you’re an LG Optimus G owner on Sprint, you’ve got a small OTA update headed your way. No, it’s not Jelly Bean, even though that was supposed to hit in December, but it’ll bring some minor performance improvements, a visual voicemail update, and battery life improvements to your device.

  The Sprint LG Optimus G is getting a nice upgrade to Jelly Bean with numerous reports of the update rolling out to owners. While it’s only been a little over three months since the phone’s release, Jelly Bean has been available on devices as early as July 2012.

LG’s latest flagship device, the Optimus G,  is all set to land on TELUS come November the 13th. While pricing has yet to be released, you can expect it to be around the $200 range on contract similar to its American counterpart. The reviews of the Optimus G have been outstanding and I have no doubts that this device will be a good one.

The lack of enthusiasm/participation in this thread about this phone is really making me lean towards getting the Note 2, but I still think it's worthy of discussing the details that were revealed today.

Sprint, AT&T getting LG Optimus G

I'm starting this thread primarily to discuss the Optimus G on Sprint.

Whenever people talk about Android phones, LG generally doesn’t come up in the conversation. Companies like Samsung, HTC, and Motorola seem to get the most press, but there’s no question LG has a big following. Even so, they never came out with a phone that put them over the top.

The Nexus 4 may only be available for GSM carriers, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a decent selection of capable handsets on CDMA networks too. Perhaps you’ve been fancying a svelte new Optimus G on Sprint, but couldn’t justify throwing down $200.

  LG has officially unveiled its latest mid-range device— the Optimus F5 smartphone. Sandwiched in between devices such as the Optimum G (Pro) and the Optimus L9 series, the Optimus F5 arrives with modest features such as a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch IPS display, 2,150mAh battery and Android 4.1.2 running the show.
