All right, so I have a Windows XP partition and everything was running fine. I decided to reboot and after loading the BIOS I was left with a black screen, no Windows logo, no further progress. Interestingly, it was projecting black - my monitor did not go to standby. This implies to me that it was waiting on some process, but I let it run for a long time with no result.
I try some boot disks.
Alright, so I am trying to get Windoze installed on an MSI notebook which previously was running exclusively Ubuntu 11.04. I had no problem getting GRUB configured and getting Windows installed to an ntfs partition (despite the inanity of the MSi recovery disk). The laptop contains ubuntu on an ext4 and a swap partition as well.
Hey there,
So to start from the beginning, even though I'm not sure that all things listed here are directly related, yesterday my laptop started to randomly shut down. I've been running it without the battery and everything seems fine in regards to power.
Hi all you pros out there =)
Okkies I think it may seem the "whole world" is having issues with dual-booting with Windows 7.
Windows 7
Backtrack5 R3 KDE x64
All options given by the installation wizard of Backtrack don't seem to be able to work.
I have a computer with windows 7, windows xp, and ubuntu. The problem is I can't boot xp. Whenever I try, I get a black screen. I would like to be able to boot from xp, 7, or ubuntu from grub
Here is what I have done:
1) Installed XP
2) Used gparted to shrink xp partition and installed ubuntu
3) Used gparted to shirnk xp partition and installed windows 7
So about a year ago I bought a lenovo S10 netbook which came with Windows XP.
Hello,
my milestone froze today - black screen, buttons glowing, backlight still on.
All works fine until I move the mouse cursor on the monitor to either the bottom of the screen or to the right of the screen. It then disappears from the monitor and re-appears onto my laptop screen. There is no way I can then get control back onto the monitor screen.
I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my new ASUS k55a laptop today, and somehow managed to lose access to all partitions on my computer. I tried boot-repair and reinstalling ubuntu but it's not helping. When I try to turn on my computer after the installation, it says to "Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device" on a black screen.
