Laptop keyboard stops working after x2x install and use

http://askubuntu.com – I'm new to linux/ubuntu and I have encountered a little problem: After installing x2x my laptop keyboard no longer works. The x2x system worked great - I was able to control my laptop from the desktop which was ssh'd into it... but the keyboard on the laptop no longer works. I have a dual-boot, and when I boot into lion (it's an early 2008 macbook) the keyboard works fine. Also, if I use a wireless usb mouse/keyboard when in ubuntu they work... just the actual computer hardware dosent. Help? Summary: Installed x2x, worked great Now the keyboard on my laptop dosen't work when logged into Ubu (HowTos)

I installed ubuntu on my T500 laptop a couple of days ago and everything was working fine. Today I plugged a usb keyboard and mouse directly into 2 of the usb ports. I then powered up. Everything was fine during the boot process I used the usb keyboard to select the boot option first in the windows - ubuntu choice and then in grub to move between the options and select one.

I just recently decided to install the most recent Ubuntu version on my Dell XPS 15z running Windows 7 (in hopes of using it to code).

However, after installing, I realized that neither my keyboard nor my mouse worked with Ubuntu. I couldn't move or type. It works with an outside keyboard and mouse, just not my laptops trackpad and keyboard. How do I fix this?

I installed Fedora 17 on my laptop, where I use a keyboard (Logitech K120) and mouse (generic USB mouse) connected to a hub.

Then I noticed that neither the keyboard nor the mouse worked.

I switched on my laptop this morning (HP Compaq nc6320) as usual and tried to log in, only to find that neither trackpad nor keyboard were working! If I reboot into a recovery mode shell, the keyboard works until I move on to normal boot. If I boot from an Ubuntu install disk (run from CD), both trackpad and keyboard work. Everything seemed OK last night when I shut down.

The usb keyboard that I have connected to my Dell E6430 running ubunthu 12.04 with gnome 3 does not open the activites overlay when i press the "windows key" on the usb keyboard.

It works just fine when I use the laptop keyboard.

I used

~$ sudo /lib/udev/keymap -i

To find what the key code was and in both cases (laptop and external keyboard) it is leftmeta.

A few days ago I bought a SL640 Hama USB keyboard to use on my laptop with Ubuntu 12.04. But I'm having problems, as it works one time out of 10! While on my girlfriend's laptop, with Win Vista, always works. And on my laptop I have Win7 in dual boot. And I have to say that it always works on it. Here are some infos:
