When my laptop hibernates, is there a way to choose NOT to resume, but just to start fresh? Is there a way to put this on the boot menu?
I ask, because my laptop takes FOREVER (~10 minutes) to resume from hibernate under Ubuntu, so I don't usually hibernate it intentionally, but it will if it runs out of power.
I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Acer Aspire 5742G recently but I can't neither put it to hibernation nor suspend it. If I hibernate it then when I press the power to wake it up, it doesn't show anything on the display and I have to force power it down (by pressing the power for a few seconds), and press the power again.
I'm on Arch and I have a strange issue with systemctl hibernate command. It hibernates and resumes just fine (I have TuxOnIce), but in the last stage of resume, it completely shuts down my laptop screen, so I cannot see anything even though I know the system resumed just fined and the desktop is running.
I don't know if this is a bug or not so I am not sure how to proceed.
I run Fedora Linux 3.6.7-5.fc18.i686 with the KDE desktop v 4.9.3.
In 'System Settings' - 'Power Management' - 'AC Power', 'Button events handling'; I have it set to 'sleep' when the laptop lid is closed and it does this OK.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and my laptop* won't wake from sleep/suspend/hibernate. (Is sleep the same thing as suspend?) I'm not even sure which of these things it's doing. When I am done working for the day, I lock my screen (Control-Alt-L).
Hello All-
I have a laptop that I can't install a hard drive in - a connector is broken of some sort.
All else works well & has a great battery life, so I am using a live usb with persistence with the laptop.
All is good enough except for suspend.
Here's the scenario:
Choose suspend
Laptop suspends
Press a button
Things happen (fan whirs, some lights come on- looks/sounds/smells as if it is
Laptop: hp 6735b with broadcom43xx (not sure which) wireless card
The laptop came with Vista and the wireless toggle button works when running Vista. Enter Ubuntu. Proprietary drivers detected and installed, but external physical button remains in 'disabled' state (indicated by an orange glow, blue glow when enabled) no matter how many times I press it.
Hi,
I am running Fedora 17 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo li1718 laptop with Radeon Xpress 200m graphics card. When trying to resume after suspend I just get a blank screen. Also the wireless light goes out. No buttons work. I have to hold the power button to force the computer to turn off, then reboot.
I hardly ever put my laptop on suspend/hibernate, so I don't know how long I've had this issue for. I'm on Ubuntu 11.10. When I turn my laptop back on again from suspend- a blank screen shows up and none of the keyboard buttons/touch-pad respond; only way to recover is holding down the power button to restart.
