I recently installed Fedora 16 on ACER Aspire One (laptop) modek D270-1628.
When going in system settings > Displays
1) my laptop monitor (1024x600) shows as unknown, I can't change it
2) trying to connect a second monitor fails, it is not detected.
I suspect that I need to re-do some xorg.conf stuff.
Can you give me any pointers how to configure X on this new install?
hello every body

Problem arose when I recently installed Manjaro on my Acer Aspire 5734Z. Sound has always been working before, when running other linux distros and win7. Neither headphones or laptop speakers are giving Audio.
Until recently I've only used machines running Windows, and as a result I don't know much about troubleshooting problems like this. Now I want to identify and solve the problem.
I am unable to mount SD cards on my Acer Aspire One 756-2420 (running Crunchbang Waldorf). If I start the machine with the card in the slot, it mounts, but otherwise it won't detect it.I can automatically mount and unmount these cards on someone else's Ubuntu laptop, but not on this machine's internal card reader.lf I run lspci, this is what I find:04:00.1 SD Host controller: Broadco
Honestly, I don't even know how to begin to search for an answer to this. I have an Acer Aspire M ultra book. Intel i5, 4g ram 500 g hdd. Probably not needed but mention it anyway just incase. The laptop came with Windows 8 and I installed Fedora 19. It is installed and running under UEFI and Safe Boot. Everything seems to work fine except when I restart the laptop.
Hey, so i have linux 10 and 11, both on the same HDD, but partitioned twice. I wanted to get rid of 11, so i installed win xp on it instead of 11 but i could not connect to any Internet at all. The wifi didnt work, so i plugged in the modem, but it still didnt connect.
It seems as win xp couldn't recognize it at all.
The laptop is an acer aspire 3680.
