I have a stack of things I used to do when my wireless was spazzing out (which it seems to do from time to time), including running sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart but lately I'm getting this when I run it:
*Running /etc/init.d/networking restart is deprecated because it may not enable again some interfaces`
So ... what am I supposed to do instead?
i justy have configured my dhcp server with static ip. after configuration dhcp server & routers were working fine. but after restarting server network connectivity went off. there are two lan cards but none of them is up.i tried setting up manually ip address again but it remains same.
/etc/network/interfaces (add):auto eth1
iface eth1 inet dhcp
wireless-mode Managed
wireless-essid WLANName
wpa-psk plainpasswordAfter edit restart the network/etc/init.d/networking stop
/etc/init.d/networking startor boot the system. While the /etc/network/interfaces contains "eth1" the network-manager could not configure the device.
On Xubuntu Karmic I access the net using a RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI and a WiFi network that uses WPA/WPA2, EAP-TTLS, PAP security. The network sometimes "hangs" and Gnome's network manager usually reconnects automatically. Every once in a while (I'm unable to recreate it) the network-manager seems to hang and a reboot is required to get it working again.
Hi all,
I'm using a compaq CQ50 AU 106 laptop with AMD athlon X2(1.9 GHz)and 3 gb ram.
I was running an Ubuntu only installation of 10.04 and 10.10 (both 32bit) and a Kubuntu 10.04 (64 bit).
My wireless card - Athreos 5007 card was working very satisfactorily, till one day the laptop shutdown/hibernated automatically due to low battery.
For some reason my wireless internet on Lubuntu 12.10 stops working randomly. Even though I'm still connected to the network I cannot browse the web or do anything unless I plug an ethernet cord in. Whenever I try to browse the web when my internet does not work, it says "Web page not available". Whenever I boot into Windows 7, the wireless internet works perfectly. How do I fix this?
Im using an old dell tower as a server and im trying to give it a static IP and when i opened the file "etc/network/interfaces" all i got was "auto lo" settings, no "auto eth0"?
I recently installed 10.04 and everything Just Worked.
Before Lucid, I was using 9.04 and had successfully gotten my Broadcom 4306 working perfectly...
I upgraded my EeePC from 11.04 to 11.10 and further to 12.04
I used the Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet.
Now at 12.04 I do not have a network anymore!
sudo start networking
=> networking stop/waiting
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

dmesg shows me many lines similar to:
