[kubuntu] Sudo with Dolphin SSH connection

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi All, I have Kubuntu 9.10 and also a Ubuntu 8.10 server both running in Virtualbox VMs. On the Kubuntu VM I have set up an SSH network connection with Dolphin into the Ubuntu Server VM. The Ubuntu server user I have specified for the connection is a sudoer on the Ubuntu Server. Problem: I can only edit and delete files that belong to the user I have specified - not ones that belong to root or www-data. Question: Is there a way to make Dolphin run the sudo command before saving or deleting a file in the same way as WinSCP can when creating this type of connection from Windows? Thanks in advance. PROBLEM I know that the server is working just fine because when booted into mac osx on the powerbook I am able to connect to the ubuntu server very easily. When I reboot into debian kde and try to connect using dolphin, I go to "samba shares -->

1. I am a ubuntu precise pangolin user. However, I am expermenting with kubuntu. Under ubuntu I have enabled acl's and extended attributes on my ext3 Data disk partition. I did this by editing /etc/fstab and putting in the options for acl's and extended attributes.

I have been using an Ubuntu 8.04 server with fail2ban for a while now (12+ months) and using ftp over SSH without any problems.

What is going to happen to Dolphin in kubuntu in 12.10, now that the lead dolphin developer jumped ship?

When I move files with sudo dolphin it seems to make all the files that I copy owned by root.

I never have this problem when I use a GTK based distro, but with KDE its a big issue.

What is the proper way to move / copy things in Dolphin as root.

I am running Windows server 2008 on Ubuntu server 12.04.1 via devstack and I am trying to download a file from an ftp server using the windows command line ftp client.

When I run the ftp get command I get the following error message:

500 I won't open a connection to 10.0.0.2 (only to XX.XX.XX.XX) 425 No data connection

10.0.0.2 is the internal IP address of the instance, whereas XX.XX.XX.

Hello everyone and thanks for checking in on my problem. This has been annoying me for weeks - ever since I updated to Lucid Lynx. As I was using the upgrade to check out other distributions, I happened to find out it happens with Ubuntu 10.04 (32-bit), Kubuntu (32-bit) and Ubuntu (64-bit, my current system).

KDE 4.7 has been released just few days ago with many new features, updates, and applications. Read announcements Kubuntu Backports ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports has added KDE 4.7 for Ubuntu 11.04 Natty release.

I'm wondering if anyone can help show me how to make Dolphin open in tabs instead of separate Windows?

One instance with multiple tabs...
