I've got Fedora 18 with Gnome.
When I click a user name on the login screen, the other ones disappear but the password prompt never shows up. It stays this way for a few seconds, then comes back to the original state with the list of users.
I've downloaded several ARM (armel - omap4) prebuilt/preinstalled images: ubuntu precise, kubuntu precise and older ones, but always having the same problem. I can not login.
I just installed Fedora 16 on my laptop a short while ago. During the installation when it gives you the option to set a password for grub, I checked the box and gave it a password. I noticed a few minutes ago that when I try to edit the kernel parameters during the grub stage, it asks me for a username and then a password. When I set this up, it never asked me for a username.
Just installed the new version of #! I did a clean install, but kept my /home partition. The first time I booted up, I was greeted with an infinite loop login screen that would ask for my username, then my password, then my username, then my password etc.
After an inturrupted upgrade from 11.04 I was finally able to get back to a login screen. However, I'm only able to login as a guest.
When I try to login with my regular username, a black box opens up in the top left hand corner with:
(username)@(username)-Satellite-A135:~$
I've tried typing in my username, password...nothing.
When I use the console without the X server, either by not starting Xorg or by pressing "CTRL-Alt-F1", the user prompt looks strange, and I can't seem to get it back.

Help! When using my Galaxy Tab to browse online shopping sites I keep getting the message "username/password incorrect". I have reset usernames and passwords several times so I know that it is not human error. When logging into one particular site, the page has 'remembered' an old login which pops up automatically even though I have unchecked the 'remember me' option.
I've ran a yum update on my CentOS 5.8 box and now I am unable to log into the console as root. Basically what happens is I receive the login prompt, enter the correct username and password, and am immediately spit back to the login prompt.
I was initially attempting to solve issues related to systemd not being able to open the system_bus socket in /var/run/dbus/system_bus.
