Kubuntu Backports ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports has added KDE 4.7 for Ubuntu 11.04 Natty release.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and decided to try Kubuntu desktop. I didn't like so tried to remove it but it has left a lot of KDE appliances still on the machine . I used 'aptitude' to install and aptitude to remove it . Although it now says that Kubuntu is no longer installed there are plenty of stuff left over .
i intalled kubuntu 10.01, then ugraded to kubuntu 12.04 then after a while i used sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop in order to have a desktop environment just like a brand new installed ubuntu 12.04, but some of nice visual effects-like workspace switcher or messages about connecting to a network or a vpn connection establishing or failing that show in the top right of screen and they blur when
I did a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit), then updated to 12.10 (64bit) over the web. I then added the kubuntu backports so that I could install KDE (kubuntu-desktop). Did an update of the repository. Then tried to install kubuntu-desktop. It is complaining that xorg won't be updated, and thus I can't install kubuntu-desktop.
I haven't been happy with the Unity desktop so I thought that I would install the kubuntu desktop to see if that would be better.

I just installed Ubuntu on my home desktop computer this morning, and I am having fun exploring this new alternative to Microsoft. I originally tried to install Kubuntu, but after multiple unsuccessful attempts I gave Ubuntu a try and it worked like a charm. I would still like to try Kubuntu, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me why it wouldn't install.
Here's what I did:
Following the release of Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (Precise Pangolin), the Kubuntu team has just announced that its KDE-based Ubuntu OS, Kubuntu, has also reached version 12.04.2.

I installed this KDE Version with the commands from this link (on my Kubuntu 11.10) and after that i removed it with your commands because it freezes all the time.
But when i log in in Kunbutu it is always this version.
I tried with purge kubuntu* to remove all Kubuntu Pieces, but when after that I install kubuntu-desktop again it is again the newest ppa Version.
