Hi there guys i have installed kubuntu using wubi installation. So i want to know is this installation is somehow different from original installation of kubuntu? And is there any problems regarding software installation upgrade etc? or this works fine?..
The problem i found in wubi installation is that i cannot backup my kubuntu.. if i backup the kubuntu drive.
On an old hardware I'm not able to start Kubuntu 13.10
I was running 13.04 without issue then:
1st step : Upgrade to 13.10 by standard procedure is OK but after reboot the screen is black with label Kubuntu in white caracters and blue shadow
2nd step : New system installation from DVD on same Hard disk but other partitions (/ and /home) of Kubuntu 13.10.
Like the Ubuntu 11.04 installer, the Kubuntu 11.04 installation program configures just two partitions by default. These are for /, the root directory, and Swap, disk space for use as virtual memory. To make upgrades less tasking, it is recommended that a separate partition be created for /home, the directory where your home folder will [...]
So i finally did the dual boot install. took me a while to get soem money for external disk (backup). anyway the install is in BIOS netbook HP dm1. all works out of the box. sound crackles a bit in Skype.
I'm having a very strange problem where Dolphin's status line is reading the free space in my home folder as 36.7 MiB and on the same drive as 68.9MiB from Root (/) when in fact this drive has 85.2 GiB free. I'm also getting the error "Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed" on occasion when booting Kubuntu.
