Hey all, go easy on me if I'm making a noob mistake.
I am dual booting Win7/Kubuntu 12.10 using Grub2. All on a single drive, all partitions seem to be correct, using the 64bit version. I can boot from the USB key just fine but not from the disk after selecting Kubuntu from Grub.
After installing off of a live cd (via USB) grub was not working so I ran boot-repair selecting recommended fixes.
My computer does not have a working CD rom drive, so I had booted from USB (used UNetbootin to make the USB) to install Ubuntu initially. I had Ubuntu working on my laptop (Gateway 7330gz), started messing around with it, and decided I wanted to start fresh again.
i have installed ubuntu inside windows and then afterwords i installed fedora 16...all time during start up its show os selection by grub loader but after i did some partition on windows its shows error:unknown filesystem.enterting rescue mode..
I am currently dual booting Win7 and Ubunto. I created a new partition, on my c drive, to install windows 8 on (i did not want to do the upgrade). I inserted the windows 8 cd and restarted my computer. no such partition/ grub rescue is all that comes up now. i loaded ubuntu from disk and did boot-repair.
I tried to delete old ubuntu on dual-boot via win7 to get more win space (partition had non-ajacent NTFS free disk partitions and woldn't allow me to move in either gparted or win) and reinstalled ubuntu with alongside windows selected. I left about 1/2 NTFS and 1/2 ext3 before reinstalling ubuntu.
I need your help in using Grub to move /boot partition to /root partition . My /boot partition is too small so I have a lot of problem to preupgrade my servers from Fedora 14 to 15/16/17. I know how to boot from rescue disk, mount /root and /boot partitions, copy /boot to new partition. However I don't know how to use grub, update MBR in rescue mode, and reboot with options in grub.
Hello:
PC: Thinkpad T500
1. I had for one year F10 and Vista Ultimate working in dual boot with Grub.
Three days ago Lenovo support recommended I update my BIOS from 2.07 to 3.12, as I had some intermitent Sleep problems in Vista. Then my problems started.
So I have 2 hard drives a HDD 320GB and a SSD 20GB. Before I had Windows 7 on the HDD and Ubuntu on the SSD but wanted to get rid of windows and reinstall a clean Ubuntu on the SSD then use the HDD for storage.
So I deleted everything from the HDD and set up the SSD with 18GB ext4 and 2GB Swap and installed Ubuntu on the 18GB ext4.
