Greetings.
I've had problems lately connecting to the internet via ethernet or wireless for some reason: it's just been these past few day, just two days ago wireless was working fine (although I've never figured out ethernet). I think it may have something to do with the fact that I installed some system updates right before it stopped working...
is it wrong driver?, randomly drops Internet connection.
Hello everyone,
I have recently installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a gateway netbook lt303u. My wireless works perfectly, but for some reason, connecting directly to the ethernet port does not (it doesn't even light up when connected to the laptop).
I have tested the cable on another computer to confirm the internet is working. I have checked that my MAC address is allowed on the network.
I'm using Mint 10 with 2.6.35-32-generic
The PC has two Wired Ethernet cards. They're both the same. One is built into the motherboard, the other is a PCI-E card. I'm using the built in one, but neither are working anymore. The only change I've recently made to my system until my Ethernet stopped working was to install Mint KDE 12.04 64bit as a dual boot.
Just as a sanity check, please post the output of ip linkIf eth0 is present, and it is in the DOWN state, try sudo ip link set up eth0 and see if eth0 has a carrier or not. My system is running on wireless without an Ethernet cable connected to my wired port.ewaller@odin:~ 1001 %ip link

Hello,
I just installed ubuntu 12.4 on my pc. I can't connect him to internet. I'm using a router (speedport W920V) connected to the pc with an ethernet cable. When i go to "edit connections" i find a wired connection who worked one day ago (i installed ubuntu yesterday).
I have recently had long waits (several minutes) for my computer to connect to the network via a wired connection when I switch it on in the morning.
